Basics of Swim/Bike/Run Training and Racing

Certified Triathlon coaches Aubrey Jon Curtis and Matthew Bryan Parks guide beginners through the proper training techniques. Swim, cycle, and run your way through this safe and informative two-day seminar for anyone with an interest in triathlon races. Whether your distance is sprint or Olympic, get the adrenalin pumping and feed your passion for the race. This seminar will include discussion on efficiency and proper nutrition, along with ample time in the water, on the bike, and running on Helena’s wonderful South Hill trails.

Course Details:

Instruct individuals with no (or limited) experience on how to train and race for triathlons covering distances from sprint to Olympic.  Cover proper techniques associated with swimming, cycling, and running.  Also include tips on writing a training plan, nutrition, and racing.  2 day course – 25% classroom, 75% hands on (in the pool, on the bike, and running).

Day 1 (Friday):

  • 5:30 – 6:00 pm: Introductions
  • 6:00 – 7:00 pm: Dinner7:00 – 7:30 pm: Course overview
  • 7:30 – 8:00 pm: Equipment check; Discuss the tools needed for triathlon
  • 8:00 – 9:00 pm: Questions/social

Day 2 (Saturday):

  • 7:00 – 8:30 am: Swimming skills practical (pool or open water)
  • 8:30 – 8:45 am: Change into bike attire
  • 8:45 – 9:30 am: Bike skills practical
  • 9:30 – 11:30 am: Group ride
  • 11:30 – 12:00 pm: Lunch
  • 12:00 – 12:45 pm: Transitions
  • 12:45 – 1:00 pm: Change into running attire
  • 1:00 – 2:00 pm: Run skills practical/group run
  • 2:00 – 2:30 pm: Strength training discussion
  • 2:30 – 3:00 pm: Nutrition
  • 3:00 pm: Questions/end of day

Cost: $100

Includes dinner on Friday, lunch on Saturday, use of facilities. Participants will need to bring their own swimming attire, bike, cycling attire (shoes, etc), and running attire.
