Master Gardener Ann Dooling teaches you to can it, dry it, or freeze it! Relishes, chutneys, jams, jellies, and pickles made from freshly harvested gardens are the foundation for this lively excursion into the world of preserving the harvest. Learn skills that Montana ranchers used to keep the “fruits” of their labor all winter long. Visit local vegetable and flower gardens, choose the freshest ingredients from the farmer’s market, and learn how you can keep the harvest. Healthy preservation techniques will keep you family well without additional preservatives.
Cost: 250
Includes lunch and the produce to work with.
Instructor: Ann Dooling
Ann Dooling has been preparing and keeping the harvest since she was a child helping her mother with the large amount of produce from the family farm. She carried on the tradition to this day—46 years later. She has had a garden every year of her adult life, except one, and that year proved to be so devoid of the pleasure of her garden harvest that she has had one ever since.
